Will Commercial Door Installation Disrupt Your Business?

Most businesses and public buildings will have commercial doors of some description on their premises. All these doors need to be maintained and, at some stage, updated or replaced. When it comes to replacing commercial security doors, how much of an impact will it have on your everyday business routines and function? There are many considerations when installing commercial security doors, but the process does not have to be that disruptive if planned properly beforehand – here are some points for consideration when installing commercial doors:

Planning

Most contractors can physically install security fire doors in just a few hours, but preparation for the installation is key to minimising any disruption to the business. Consider firstly, what practical processes or functions will be disrupted or unavailable during the time it takes to install the new doors – how does it affect deliveries or transport issues, and will it have any detrimental impact on adjoining businesses or premises? Consider that you will need to have new keys and/or security/access codes prepared for all the relevant people and consider any compromised security or safety issues during the actual installation time and process.

The Right Door

There are many aspects to consider when choosing your commercial security doors – thoroughly research and establish your precise requirements before ordering the doors. Decide on what material you need the doors to be constructed from – consider the door function, its location with regards to the building, the aesthetic look, and, of course, your budget. If it is an office environment then wooden security doors may be the appropriate choice, whereas if the premises are more industrial (warehouse, factory, or similar), then perhaps steel security doors are a better option.

Safety And Security

As well as ensuring that the door you choose offers the appropriate physical security against illegal breach of the premises, damage, and such, also consider the safety aspects such as fire outbreak. Many commercial security doors are also fire rated doors – this means they will offer protection from all the harmful elements of a fire outbreak (flame, heat, and smoke) for specified minimum time periods. Security fire doors are available in different time protection ratings from 30 minutes upwards, buying valuable time for a safe evacuation of the building for all inside, and containing the fire until emergency services arrive to deal with it professionally.

Aesthetics

Your commercial security doors must, of course, be functional in their purpose, but must also aesthetically suit their placement and environment. These security doors are available in different styles and materials, so you can choose whatever is the most appropriate for your building – you may want office doors to be more decorative or ‘warmer’ in appearance as against, for example, a warehouse door which you may want to project a more industrial and robust impression.
