What’s the role of Quiet Mark & The Noise Abatement Society?

We recently shared an article from the Daily Mail which recognised us as an accredited Quiet Mark supplier of acoustic doors. The Quiet Mark symbol is administered by the Noise Abatement Society, but many are unaware of the fantastic work the NAS does to reduce excessive noise in homes all over the UK.

What does the Noise Abatement Society do?

Since 1959, when the society was first established by John Connell OBE, the NAS has been campaigning to reduce noise pollution which impacts on public health and wildlife. It helped to lobby the 1960 Noise Abatement Act, which protects people from many kinds of nuisance noise.

Today, the NAS operates a wide variety of programmes to help people cope with nuisance noise, take steps to protect their hearing and encourage businesses to find solutions to reduce noise pollution in the workplace, community and home. The Quiet Mark is one such programme that the NAS is associated with, and was borne out of the NAS’s national noise helpline, which the public can contact to discuss their concerns about excessive noise.

What does the quiet mark mean?

The Quiet Mark was established to encourage businesses to promote noise reduction by creating products which reduce noise in everyday scenarios. For people searching for quiet products or noise reduction solutions, the Quiet Mark is an easily identifiable symbol which helps them to make informed purchasing decisions.

When a business applies for a Quiet Mark, the product in question is rigorously, independently tested in a lab environment. The organisation strives to mimic real life conditions in each of their tests in order to assess whether the products offer significant noise reduction in the places where they will be used. They also consider the product’s performance and price point in order to compile a catalogue of Quiet Mark products that offers something for every budget.

Our Quiet Mark accredited soundproof doors have gone through this rigorous testing process and we’re incredibly proud to bear the Quiet Mark symbol.
