Internal fire doors made to your specifications

Fire doors save lives, both by containing the spread of a fire and providing a means to escape. There are strict regulations and guidelines governing the use of fire doors in a wide range of situations, you ignore them at your peril because properly fitted fire doors can mean the difference between life and death.

Which type of fire doors do I need?

Your type of business, the design of your building and the location of the fire door will all impact on the type of fire door you need to install. Since the primary consideration in any fire is always the preservation of life rather than the preservation of property, it’s most likely that your premises will require FD30 fire rated doors, but in certain situations, you may need steel doors rated up to FD240 (four hours).

How do I comply with fire door regulations?

All commercial and non-domestic property in the UK is covered by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in England and Wales, the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006, and the Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010. Failure to comply with these regulations by blocking a fire door or having a fire door that doesn’t close properly, for example, can expose you to an unlimited fine and up to two years in prison. In 2013, a Croydon businessman was given a 15 month suspended prison sentence and a £40,000 fine for having no fire resistant doors in his property at all.

Why choose a bespoke or custom made fire door?

Fire regulations can be extremely complex and it can be difficult to know what’s the right door for a certain situation. Buying off the peg means you may not get the correct fit that’s required for a fire door, rendering it ineffective. We can create bespoke doors to any size with features like cutouts for glazing and grooves intumescent (fire) strips. That way you’ll have the peace of mind of knowing that your doors are 100% compliant with fire safety regulations.
