Which key features do hotel bedroom doors need?

How often do hotel guests really stop and think about the doors to their hotel rooms? And do hotel owners really place enough emphasis on choosing the right doors for their premises’ needs?

For guests to have the best possible experience, hotel bedroom doors need to be chosen with multiple factors in mind: safety, security, and of course, peace and quiet. Here, we explore each of these facets of hotel doors in more detail.

Hotel bedroom door safety

Safety is paramount in any hotel, and hoteliers must be sure that the doors they choose comply with current fire safety regulations. We’ve written in more detail about hotel door regulations with a comprehensive guide to what the regulations mean, and what needs to be covered. Remember too, that all hotel bedrooms will need to be clearly signposted details of what to do and where to go in case of emergency, and fire doors must be labelled as such.

Hotel bedroom door security

Think about your own personal hotel stays, and the value of the items that you take with you. Cameras, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, passports, e-readers, hotel rooms are a goldmine for thieves. Ensure that your hotel rooms are secure by choosing doors that are thick enough to withstand attack, and that can be fitted with suitable locks and chains to give hotel guests peace of mind.

Hotel bedroom door acoustics

Nothing ruins a hotel stay like a poor night’s sleep. While some of this is down to the quality of the bedding and how well the curtains block out light, it’s also important that the rooms are well soundproofed. Hotels are full of all sorts of noises, from other guests walking past or making noise in adjacent rooms, to sounds from the kitchen, the restaurant and other public areas. Choosing a soundproofed internal door not only keeps noise levels down, but has a whole host of other benefits too.

There will be other considerations you’ll want to bear in mind when choosing hotel doors too. What material works for the rest of your decor? How do you want the door to be hinged? Do you need the ability to attach anything to either the inside or outside of the door? Which colour do you need?
