Book Matching
Alternating pieces of veneer are flipped over so they face each other side to side, as do the pages within a book creating a mirrored repeat of the grain pattern. This creates a pleasing, symmetrical pattern.
Slip Matching
The leaves of veneer are joined leaf to leaf without turning or flipping. As it is a straight grain, the joints will not be obvious.
Random Matching
Random matching is just what it sounds like. The panels are placed in a random order creating different decorative patterns.
Usually done with lower grades of veneer, the veneer leaf may be of varying width, colours and grains.
